Meet Your Hosts: Val and Marci

Val Nelson, Career & Business Coach

My specialty is helping introverts and HSPs to find clarity, confidence, and momentum toward a more aligned livelihood. For many years, I’ve helped clients find their sweet spot in work that fits their heart, energy, and wallet, even in a down economy and rapidly changing work environment.

I believe people with big hearts are needed and our sensitive nature is a gift, not a flaw. I believe work should feel joyful — and it is possible. When you let in support to make this easier, magic happens.

Moving toward what’s more true for you usually comes with some fears, and we’ll deal with the fear too.

And to help you with the practical parts of a job search, I’ve got a job search expert on my team: Marci Shaffer. (I get rave reviews from my clients who have worked with Marci on their job search.)

I feel better about myself and my future than I have in a long time. Val has a wonderfully calming manner that makes you feel better about life the second you hear her voice.” ~ Devan, past event attendee

Marci Shaffer, Job Search Coach

Hi, I’m Marci! Bringing years of experience in guiding and supporting people navigate the job search maze, I stay current with changing trends and new technology to bring more ease to the process.

I’m known for a gentle spirit and for breaking things down into manageable pieces for your way of doing things, so that you can get some traction.

For the past 15 years, I’ve gained a deep understanding of and success in supporting neurodivergent clients, specifically those who relate to autism and/or ADHD, and how these affect career decisions and the job search process.

[Marci’s] deep knowledge of the current HR landscape, paired with a warm, enthusiastic energy were both motivating and empowering. She was able to spot where I was feeling stuck or uncertain, and offered insightful tools to help me move through those blocks with confidence. I can’t recommend Marci highly enough. ~non-profit leader and HSP

FAQs

I’m not sure I can make the time. Will there be a recording?
No, we aren’t recording this session, but hope you can make the time to attend live even if you need to leave early. We tried to make the time short enough to attend while on a break in your work day.

Something needs to change, but I’m not sure what’s next. Is this for me?
Yes. We’ll share ideas about what to do first when you are thinking about a change, including before you know what needs to change. We’ll even touch on how to make it a little easier at your current work while exploring.

I’ve been looking for a while and I’m feeling frustrated. Will this help?
First, this can be such a hard time, and I’m sorry you’re feeling that frustration. Our time together is meant to bring some calm around a challenging process, which in itself can help. We’ll also bring some clarity that might give you a new starting point and give you some practical tips that could refresh your process.

I am leaving a career that I am very successful at but that drains and exhausts me. This class was so encouraging to me. Thank you!”
