It’s been an unusual few weeks for me, and well, for everyone I think given the shaky times we’re in. For me it wasn’t just the news that shook things up.
Layered on top of that, my spouse had a major (unscheduled) transplant surgery a few weeks ago and there’s a long recovery process still in process. Luckily surgery was successful and he’s been mostly holding up since then, with a few bumps in the road, I’m not gonna lie. We are learning to roll with ups and downs, as a team.
At some point I would like to write more about the lessons and the choices I’ve made about managing my work life while in a bumpy patch. So much amazing support has shown up for us. Wow, what a difference that makes. That is part of what has made it possible for me to still show up for my clients with only a few reschedules.
I did take some days off, but my time with clients has been a stabilizing joy right now. I have been able to cut back on other work things like writing, planning, and I put a hold on accepting new 1:1 coaching clients in February. My groups and live courses are still open for enrollment. (Back to accepting new clients in March.)
And yes I still can’t help but fit in concern for people in harm’s way all over the world. #SensitiveGal
I’m learning to ride these new waves and I’m feeling so grateful to be on the other side of the biggest waves, in this health journey at least. I feel fortunate that I have created a work life that can work with my needs. My balanced life design is showing up strong! I feel so fortunate for his recovery progress too. #LuckyGal
On the most whirlwindy days, whether personal life or upsetting things in the news, I turn to these truths:
My Recent Updates on LinkedIn
Amidst the whirlwinds, I’ve still been active on LinkedIn, which is a nice break sometimes. Some of my recent posts there:
- There is not ONE perfect career path for you. There are many good options!
- Companies that value inclusion and belonging that are hiring (and how to find more of them).
- Let’s not take the bait on shock and awe methods. Anyone doing that wants us feeling off-kilter on purpose. Finding your grounding is part of rebelling.
- Why I’m switching to Signal (non-profit) instead of WhatsApp (owned by Meta/Facebook).
Today’s Musical Inspiration 🎶
Someone sent me this video recently and it was just what I needed. I’ve been singing it to myself a lot, to bolster my resolve, for everything, and there’s a lot of everything.
